WAVE

On 29th of August we had the first ever all-to-ourselves-surf-day during this summer. Meaning for the first time we had a day full of west-wind and we did not have to give even one lesson meaning it was by far one of the best days this summer !! and what was even greater- I finally learned how to surf with a waveboard. A waveboard in kitesurfing is a board looking like a normal surfboard you take waves with, only that it is lighter and has a grip for both legs on it, or has straps, which would be easier for a beginner like me. So basically it is like surfing only that you do not have to paddle to get the speed, you just use your kite to get on the wave and turn etc. And the board I used, for the first time ever wave boarding, was a strapless one, so it was quite hard and everything I was told at the beach was how to balance my bodyweight, not one word about how to get on the board or how to turn around or any other tip like that, so I basically knew nothing. However, it turned out to be quite easy, or not that easy, but still a lot of fun and smiles! I did fall and lose my board and I was IN the water a lot more than usually, but for a first time ever, it was good and I can say that I am proud !!
and of course I had to take my go pro with me

"no, guys, I didn't fall at all.."

just please, how beautiful can a board be??!?

it's all fun and games until..

first ever turn!

START: SEPTEMBER

As every year, 1st of September brings students back together, with feelings from the window to the wall, all of them starting a new school year. For me this one was the last first September to ever start  with school.  I was partly feeling sad because summer ended, which is logical, but also sad that I again need to spend almoast 9 months in that same old and dark building again, sad that now, when summer ended, fall and november and all that darkness is so near and the negative emotions it brings, frigtens me. But at the same time I felt happy, because I started my LAST year in that school and the closer autumn gets the sooner it will be winter and then already summer, after spring, which brings us to Graduation!!! I so can not wait when all of the exams and university stuff is over and it is finally the end of all 12 years in school, wow oh wow, hopefully time flies..!

But as it was my 12th start, I did a little throwback and looked at the pictures taken on my very first 1st of September. Oh how small (and cute) and willing I was back then :')

but we couldn't be worse and needed some pictures to look back to as well, so half an hour photoshoot it was

(we were twinning-all black everything)

and as a new schoolyear started, so started our weekly Kumu meetups

And should I mention, that the summer isn't still over, because as long as you can surf, it is summer.
On that tuesday we were actually filming a campaign which promotes an active lifestyle for youngsters, shows thing stop do besides hang out and drink alcohol. And kitesurfing was one of them, so we were asked to come together and film some nice shots whilst surfing. At first Marten was chosen to be the cameraman, which meant that he had the helmet, where a go pro was put on, so he'd ride behind us and film, but he managed to bump into two of us and both of their kites fell down into the thick thick seaweed so their lines were too heavy to ride and they needed to go out and clean their lines. But then we changed and I was filming marten doing different tricks and cheering him and filming my legs etc. I hope they got something out of it and if so, the campaign should be on TV in the near future, so keep your eyes opened!

and because the weather was so warm and I felt energetic I decided to go for a run
it was great!

SIS. DELI+CAFÉ

So as I mentioned we had breakfast at a cafe called SIS. Deli+Café. It's an all organic half raw/vegan take away place, where you can as well eat inside (or outside, as we did). The atmosphere is nice and cosy, minimalistic and beautiful. They have a variety of sandwitches and salads, smoothies and chia puddings, baked goods and cookies to take away or eat there, as well as beverages like coffee or tea + they also have many different organic products you can buy, like muesli bars or rolled oats etc. Also the brunch they serve there as a buffet is sooo good, and actually rather cheap when compared to other Finnish brunches- it cost 15.5€ for the ultimate buffet, which contained a smoothie of the day, some breads, cheeses, hams, jams, toppings, yoghurt and muesli, coffee, tea, orange juice etc. And although it was served on a rather small table, it actually had everything you'd like to have from a small breakfast, and it did not leave you feeling bloated or puffy, because everything was ORGANIC!
Places like this should be everywhere, they are sooo good for to grab a quick meal, a HEALTHY meal!

the buffet-plates

and my breakfast. I didn't choose the buffet because I felt like a big smoothie and something fresh besides sandwiches and soy yoghurt, so I chose a coconut-chia seed pudding and a banana strawberry pineapple raspberry something else smoothie
it was delicious !!

and the smoothie matched my sneakers

SIS. Deli+Café is a must when going to Finland, I highly recommend!! (find more about them HERE) Even the package says (translated from Finnish) :

GOOD
RAW
HEALTHY
-EASILY

SINCE LAST AUGUST

Heyy you,
I missed the whole August, as it was sooo busy and full of events, that I did not have any time (or willingness) to blog, but I'll make it up, I promise ( ! )

So before Khris quitted working at a restaurant called Lendav Taldrik (the flying plate) we decided that we should use our chance and be served by Khris, so a morning-lunch date it was, and it was fun, as always with these two

and then it was my dads birthday, and as a tradition in our family, I (+mum) baked or make a breakfast brunch with vegan scones and berry muffins, freshly squeezed orange juice, hummus, vegan nutella, fresh berries and some superfood bread and it was d e l i s h ! !
I love mornings like this.

And then, in the end of July, we went to Finland (we=me and my fam) to visit our friends' summerhouse called mökki in Finnish. It's always nice to be back in Finland, and especially nice is to enjoy a weekend at the countryside in the middle of Finnish forests and rocky coastline, run into ice-cold salty water straight out of sauna, eat loads of northern thin potatoes that aren't sold in Estonia, go running every morning to bring the daily newspaper, drive around Turku's little islands to nearby towns and just to spend good time with a friend and two families and a dog I don't have an allergic reaction! good times yes yes

in a cafe in Uusikaupunki, a "harbour" city near by
eating munkki's which are these sugar-covered ultra sweet and airy buns
so delish
and a must have when in Finland.

every of our mornings started off with either a big bowl of banana ice-cream or blueberry smoothie covered with everything good you could imagine
it was soooo refreshing and such a good way to start the day

and all of the dinners we had there were amazeballs, meaning we had such a wide range of vegetables and salads and couscous'es and holy wow it was soooo good
since then we've been making different veggies on the grill at home, adding sundried tomatoes and for instance helium cheese, so good!!

the so very calm and so very nice view

and the best bedroom I could ever imagine, the sleeps there my oh my

And so did end our countryside holiday, and we spent one night and one day in Helsinki, because mom had her last day of vacation and we did not want to go home yet. So I went out with Lotta to Kallio block party which was a mini-festival in between apartment buildings, it was fun. We ate FAFA'S for two times that night though, which was the best best best!! (If you haven't been to fafa's, oh my, you need to! They make the best falafels and pitas ever which will just melt in your mouth, forever loving those!) And in the morning we met up, had breakfast in an organic cafe called Sis.Deli, which I will tell you about in a different post, then sat into the car and drove to Vantaa ti visit an event called Asuntomessu which was basically a new built village where all the houses were built by a different company and also decorated from the inside, and all of those houses were for sale and people got to go inside all of them, see the design and furniture and gather vouchers and inspiration. It was cool at first but got quite tiering in the end as I did not like the way those houses were built/decorated, it wasn't that much about my style, but I still liked some details (like rose-gold vases and tissue holders, or a little garden in the middle of a house, or a fully white sauna, or a living room with higher ceiling etc). Then we visited IKEA and did a little "hannah in ikea" shoot, which was a lot of fun, as an old pair were looking around one "flat" and i was almost sitting on the toilet pot whilst max was taking a pic and laughing, and they walked in and were like "excuse us but umm I don't think that it's allowed to use the toilet" and we laughed soooo hard!! And afterwards we had lunch at a salad cafe called Teatteri and then took the ferry back to Tallinn. The only thing I bought was a pair of socks from Monkki, I've bought their socks before and I so like the softness and the cut, also the designs are always funky, like everything in Monkki. All together it was a sweet and good and relaxing trip away from home and work, and at the same time, to home, which Helsinki will be for me for forever and always.

The socks.

lunch at Teatteri

and the next day I was still inspired and craving the nana ice cream we made back in Finland, so I made my own, but with no toppings, sadly..

Back in Estonia, it all kicked off with a whole WEEK full of windy days, which meant we were giving lessons and lessons and it was s o tiering, but I was still happy: pretty sunsets, active job, a bunch of cool SUPpers and warm nights long boarding home with bare feet
oh you mother nature

one evening i had 21 of them

and one night we met up with Katariina in the old town and had a midnight chat whilst walking around the town and it was such a warm night i couldn't even
and an unintended white girl picture for that, memories..

And then Anett turned 18!!! so I took her SUPping with me to watch the sunset from the sea, and then Khris came too, and I surprised her with a vegan-bisquit cake and we ate it on the roof and made plans for the future and chatted and then did some yoga just to make fun of ourselves, and danced to so loud music in an empty beach when the sun had set
it was soooo
everything, so many emotions

then one windless evening I was reading outside, and the sun was setting so beautifully I couldn't help myself but to take a pic or to..

and one magical evening on that so windy week, we were lucky and got the chance to surf after our lessons, so we were on until 22:15, the sun had already set and it was too dark to see the depth of the water. But whilst we were on, the sun was setting to an almost cloudless sky and it was coloured so nicely and on that evening I knew what I wanted to do
oh that happy feeling and happy girl, who came off, ice cold but shining so much I could've been messed up with a diamond xd
but it was a magical night

my version of a dance floor

Actually a funny story: on that day I did nana ice cream again and managed to put my finger into the hand blender so it cut from one side of my nail to the other and i almost fainted, but gathered myself and rode my bike to my dancing class. And when I was going back I did something so stupid that I fell from my bike as well and was bleeding from fingers and knees and it was so stupid i cried on the sidewalk and felt soooo embarrassed, but as I had work, I rode quickly to the beach, cleaned my wounds and went to work. When we decided to go surfing after work I was so sure I'd break some bones or die, the day had been sooo unlucky that I was so scared. But luckily a bad day turned into one of the best during summer and I did not die and only crashed three times because I got stuck into the shallow water which I didn't see because it was so dark.
But it was a good night, a really good one

maarja's early birthday party, from where I came back all red again, because cats

AND THEN dudududuududududm I GOT MY DRIVING LICENCE
finallyyyyy !!! I passed my exam and woooooh sooo happy!!

so we decided to celebrate and I made my folks a salad buffet and they actually enjoyed it very much, as it was all vegan and healthy and they did not need to prepare it themselves, but it was sooo good and nourishing and filling and oh, if I would have those every day..

and to celebrate a bit more we drove over to Anett's to eat some cake and listen to a private concert and celebrate her birthday again, this time with her aunt and grandparents, but it was fun as always!
